Abstract

The cerrado is one of the main Brazilian biomes. Included in 17 classes, the Cerrado soils, the occurrence of heterogeneous species, oxisols, quartzarenic neurosols and argisols, which occupy the largest percentage of area. A Cerrado region functions as a water reservoir, or as a contribution to the supply of important Brazilian basins. The capacity of the soil to store water and allow a plant to express its maximum product potential is conditioned by a series of attributes, as well as porosity, texture, structure, density, compaction, mechanical resistance to penetration, hydraulic conductivity, values and rates of infiltration. And that in turn are mainly dependent on the management of the agricultural chain.
