Abstract

The review presents a comprehensive study on the scope of plant biostimulants and their approach to grain production, accentuate the fundamental principles and applications of new technologies. Plant biostimulants are defined as a substance or microorganism used in plants in order to increase nutritional efficiency, tolerance to environmental and biological stresses and in a crop quality. Seeing that is a diversity of classes and products available, it is difficult to approach them directly, as they include plant hormones, seaweed, bacteria, fungi, protein and humic compounds. Its applications in grain crops proved to be important, but given the difficulty in determining a specific “mode of action”, one should consider the principle of use and which biological function will result in positive gains, through the application of active ingredient or mix of components.
