SITUATION AND PERSPECTIVE OF THE CERRADO CONSERVATION IN 2019

Abstract

The Cerrado is global hotspot of rare and threatened biodiversity. In the current situation use of Cerrado resources like as biodiversity, water resources, productive lands and minerals which generate wealth, are also the causes of environmental degradation. The main threats to the Cerrado were reviewed through related research to provide subsidies for Cerrado conservation. In this perspective, several conservation alternatives were pointed, including the application of the forest code, improve the sustainability of agriculture, conduct the biodiversity studies, creation of new protected areas, and even the soy moratorium of the deforested areas. Governments, society, companies and producers must join forces to implement these measures, as the Cerrado provide indispensable services for the regional economy and the environment.
